Simpsonistas: Tales from New Literary Project is the annual anthology edited by Joseph Di Prisco. Five volumes have appeared so far, most recently Vol. 5 in October 2023. NewLit creative writing workshops since 2015 have been offered free of charge, to more than three hundred high school students over time from neglected, overlooked, undervalued communities, such as Contra Costa Juvenile Hall, Girls Inc. Alameda County, Emery High School, and elsewhere, led by Fellows from UC Berkeley and Saint Mary’s College of California. Student work has been celebrated in each volume, alongside noted authors such as: Joyce Carol Oates, Daniel Mason, Lauren Groff, Danielle Evans, Laila Lalami, Anthony Marra, David Means, Manuel Muñoz, T. Geronimo Johnson, Peter Orner, Sigrid Nunez, Lori Ostlund, Anne Raeff, Ben Fountain, Geoffrey O’Brien, Ishmail Muhammad, Samantha Hunt, Martin Pousson, Kim Dower, and Mark Danner.
